Universal Orlando Resort Is Perfect Last Minute Vacation

Life is busy, and vacation planning is often pushed aside as one more thing to do. Then it sneaks up on us out of nowhere that the kids are out of school, and then the panic begins of how to entertain them.

Consider a Universal Orlando Resort vacation! It’s the perfect last minute getaway, anytime of the year!

Our family has visited Universal Orlando Resort for a long holiday weekend on a last minute whim, and LOVED it. I booked our hotel 3 weeks before arrival and surprised the kiddos, so this can absolutely be done and we made some priceless memories too!

Here’s why we think Universal Orlando Resort makes the perfect last-minute vacation.

1.      Advance dining planning NOT necessary. Unlike a Walt Disney World vacation a successful Universal Studios trip doesn’t require planning 6 months (or more) in advance to grab dining reservations. At Universal you can easily score table service restaurant reservations only a few weeks before travel, and most are same day!

2.      Flexible itineraries. If you don’t particularly enjoy scheduling your rides & attractions (Disney’s FastPass+ system), then you’ll love the flexibility of the Universal Express Pass. This is allows you to bypass the standby line and is NOT included with general park admission. This can be a costly upgrade but it’s complimentary when you stay at Deluxe Universal Orlando resorts.

3.      Smaller scale = Less intimidating & confusing. Universal Orlando is comprised of 2 theme parks, Universal Studios & Universal Islands of Adventure, that are joined together by City Walk. And with only 4 onsite resorts, compared to 25 at Walt Disney World planning & navigating Universal Orlando aren’t nearly as complicated or intimidating as their Orlando neighbor.

4.      Availability of last minute deals. Universal Orlando discounts & promotions are ongoing, based on availability. This means that you can often still score last minute deals right up until travel.

5.     Pool hopping IS allowed. Florida is year round pool weather, and one very cool feature about staying onsite at a Universal Orlando Resort hotel is pool hopping! Here it’s not only allowed but, encouraged. Cool off mid-day or spend the whole day with the family at the pool. The kids will LOVE the pool slide & lazy river at Cabana Bay Beach Resort, and everyone enjoys the underwater audio at Hard Rock Resort.

6. Fun for everyone. Universal Studios IS a destination that everyone in the family can enjoy! The parks aren’t just for Harry Potter fans!! Little ones will love character greetings with the Minions, Seuss Landing, and the interactive playgrounds. Your elementary-age kids will have plenty to enjoy with attractions themed from Shrek, Transformers, & other movies. And your adrenaline-seeking fans will love all of the thrill rides.

With onsite resort hotels your family will enjoy special early park admission and park transportation, Deluxe Resorts even include complimentary Express tickets!!
