Costa Rica & Nicaragua: Beaches, Volcanoes, Rainforests, and Pura Vida!

I just got back from an incredible 12-night trip to Costa Rica and Nicaragua, and I'm bursting with excitement to share my experiences! This adventure was all about getting a firsthand feel for the amazing resorts, tours, and activities these captivating countries offer.

The first leg of the journey was an exclusive travel advisor retreat alongside ten colleagues. For four nights, we immersed ourselves in the beauty of Guanacaste, Costa Rica. We called three luxurious boutique resorts home, each with its own unique charm. Beyond our stays, we toured two additional resorts to expand our knowledge base.

Our days were filled with thrilling adventures:

  • We navigated the rainforest on a fun (and super muddy) ATV excursion.

  • We set sail on a catamaran, soaking up the sun and turquoise waters.

  • We were treated to sightings of fascinating creatures in their natural habitat (monkeys, coatis, iguanas, all kinds of colorful birds and more!)

  • We took advantage of all the hiking trails we could fit in (a personal favorite).

  • And no pool was left untested – even if just for a quick dip between adventures!

Transitioning to Nicaragua, we spent two nights at the captivating Rancho Santana. This resort truly charmed us with its breathtaking views, personalized experiences, and extensive range of activities for all ages! (I can’t wait to bring my family back to this one!)

A day trip to the vibrant city of Granada added a touch of cultural immersion to the itinerary, and then our final night together was spent unwinding at the Jicaro Island Lodge (a private island eco-lodge).

With a heavy heart (but a backpack full of memories!), I said goodbye to my travel companions and embarked on a personal adventure back in Costa Rica with my husband for an additional 4-night exploration of the country’s diverse landscapes. We split our time between the vibrant capital of San Jose and the volcanic region of La Fortuna. Here, we conquered hiking trails, crossed thrilling hanging bridges, and swam at the base of the massive La Fortuna waterfall. Relaxation was key at the Tabacon Thermal Resort and Spa, where we soaked in the therapeutic hot springs and embraced pure relaxation.

Twelve nights flew by in a whirlwind of discovery, rejuvenation, and unforgettable experiences. While I was excited to return home and share stories with my teenage boys, a part of me already dreams of going back and exploring even more of what Costa Rica and Nicaragua have to offer!

Stay tuned for future updates as I curate the perfect travel experiences for you in these incredible destinations!
