Where to Go?

Fairbanks is the most popular Northern Lights destination in Alaska. It’s not the best place for viewing (actually just below Arctic Circle) but it’s easily accessible with lots of accommodations. 

For more serious aurora chasers, you’ll want to travel north into remote the Yukon to cities like Coldfoot, Nome, or Barrow. 

When to Go? 

Northern Lights in Fairbanks, Alaska are visible from mid September to late April, peaking in March. Of course viewing conditions will always vary based on the weather.

How long to visit? 

Viewing the Northern Lights is dependent on clear weather conditions AND solar activity. We recommend staying for a minimum of 4 nights in the Aurora region, this will increase your odds of viewing Northern Lights for at least once.
